![]() When should you read Reverse cards? I do not read Reverse cards in the Tarot. Whether you do or not is entirely up to you. The idea of a Reverse card allows one card to have more than one meaning. For example, the Three of Swords can indicate sorrow when appearing in an upright position. When it appears upside down, or “reversed,” it can indicate recognition and overcoming sorrow. I like to read cards in a fashion of “high side” or “low side.” Realize that there are many places of energy to read from the lowest low to the highest high. One card can have many variations of the same energy foundation. It is important to look at the position of the spread that the Tarot Card appears in and also the rest of the cards and how they form a story. Every card in any spread influences the whole reading. Just like in energetic healing, you want to look at the whole not the parts by themselves. So, in essence, you get to decide whether you wish to read the cards upright and reversed as a rule or not. Personally, I do not like rules. I like guidelines and I love to think outside the box when my brain allows it. I do not want to lock in a vibration of energy on a high side or low side unless I am certain that is exactly what the querent is experiencing. In addition, I want to always give tools and techniques of empowerment so that the querent can learn to navigate from the lower vibrations into the higher vibrations by understanding the inherent energy that is surfacing. When you understand the card present in its fullness of expression, you will learn how to offer the help of self-empowerment and guidance. As a Tarot reader, the most important part you play is to be of service and to help other people become empowered in their own lives. It is truly about the love and sharing of information, Universal Truths, and psychic guidance.
